hot fashion trends for 2011

Hot fashion trends for 2011 come in the form of the 70s, block colors, minimalism, prints & mixed fabrics. From hair to fashion some trends came back.

Hot Fashion Trends For 2011

The seventies, minimalism, block colors, mixed prints, and fabrics from opposite ends of the wheel paired together made 2011 an interesting fashion season.

Best Fashion Trends For 2011

The ‘70s came back and the fashion world rejoiced with designers such as Marc Jacobs, Derek Lam and Tory Burch sending seventies inspired pieces down the runway. Wide legged pants, high waisted jeans, and loud prints were seen for both seasons in 2011.

Minimalism was a trend throughout the year with Rag & Bone, Yigal Azrouel, and Alexander Wang all sending models down the runway in more simple paired down looks.

Block colors on separates made the year brighter and much more relaxed as oranges, turquoise, candy pink, and sunshine yellows came out to party. Whether paired with other bold colors or toned down with neutral shades the block colors of 2011 had fun! Seen on the runways at Christopher Kane, Rachel Roy, Jil Sander, and Z Spoke.

Spring/summer 2011 saw prints become louder and more daring than previous seasons. Stella McCartney mixed prints on silky dresses, Proenza Schouler mixed and matched colors, prints and separates for playful glamour, and Prada had fun with whimsical prints. Givenchy brought back the animal print trend proving the much-loved print from last year is still in style.

Flower prints were another trend for spring/summer; both big and bold as well as small and girl like. Alberta Ferretti was one designer bringing flower prints into the modern age.

When it came to fabrics both lace and light leather made the trend list for 2011. Phillip Lim gave both fabrics a try, pairing them together for a minimal contemporary look.

Hot Hair Trends For 2011

Hair trends for 2011 took inspiration from the celebrity world as well as past eras.

Bouffants on long hairstyles looked glamorous this year, think old-Hollywood starlet rather than MTV’s Snookie.

Messy waves gave hair volume during the spring/summer season, leaving hair looking relaxed and less controlled than previous years. Both Ports 1961 and Thakoon experimented with the style during their runway shows on various lengths.

Less traditional braids came out in a variety of styles; loose short braids at Georges Chakra and tight controlled braids at Behnaz Sarafpour were highlights this year.

Prabal Gurung and Carolina Herrera both styled models with side partings and sleek tight hairstyles during 2011 seasons.

Both hair and fashion trends took inspiration from the past; so whether you thought of them as trends making a comeback or new trends emerging there was definitely a familiar line to follow!

Which trend did or are you following this year?
